Following the recent conclusion of the worldwide-loved and multi-award winning television drama 'Peaky Blinders', it was announced earlier this summer that series would receive a further adaptation in the form of a feature-length film.
The show, created by British screenwriter Steven Knight, made it's television debut back in 2013 and went on to run for a total of six seasons. Throughout it's airtime, Academy Award winner Cillian Murphy portrayed the iconic lead role of Tommy Shelby, absorbing the hearts and awe of many fans all around the world in the process.
Just last month when it was announced that the feature film adaptation of the Peaky Blinders story was much more than just a rumour, it was also revealed that Cillian Murphy would reprise the iconic role of Tommy Shelby.
In march of this year the Irish-born actor became the most recent name to be added to a long and prestigious list of performers to be gifted the Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Murphy received such accolade for his portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer', the film marked the sixth occasion in which Murphy and Nolan have worked together.
Rebecca Ferguson has since become the first actor to be announced to co-star alongside Murphy in the 'Peaky Blinders' movie since the film was green-lit by Netflix. The Swedish actress is known for many roles in major blockbusters throughout the 21st century, with her most notable portrayals being Isla Faust in the 'Mission: Impossible' franchise and Lady Jessica in Denis Villeneuve's 'Dune: Part One' and 'Dune: Part Two'.
Much like any information in regards to the storyline, the role in which Ferguson is set to portray has been kept very close to the chest of the people responsible for creating this film. Given that Ferguson never featured in the series throughout the entirety of it's six seasons, we can safely assume that she will be portraying a character we are yet to meet in the 'Peaky Blinders' universe.
