Last week the world was sent into a spiral of excitement with the first look images of Ridley Scott's long-awaited and highly-anticipated to the 2001 Best Picture winner, 'Gladiator'.
And with an official cinematic release date of November 15th slowly lurking up on us, the time in which movie fans around the world receive the first official trailer for 'Gladiator 2' is bound to come soon.
It was confirmed last week by the studio behind the film that we are set to receive the first look trailer on July 9th (one week from publication).
'Gladiator 2' is set to star Irish actor, Paul Mescal, as Lucius the co-emperor of Rome alongside Joaquin Phoenix's Commodus. 20 years after the original, Mescal is set to take over the reigns once held by Spencer Treat Clark and reanimate the character of Lucius.
Starring alongside Mescal is an all-star cast filled with A-list names such as Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Djimon Hounsou and Connie Nielsen reprising the role of Lucilla who featured in the 2000 original.
Although very little has been released about the film's storyline at this point, we do know that the movie begins with Paul Mescal's Lucius in the North African region of Numidia. Viewers will see Lucius enjoying a relatively easy lifestyle with his wife and child until he is forced to take action following the Romans' ruthless descent into North African territory.
