At the most recent Disney D23 Expo, it was announced in incredible fashion that Pixar's first superhero family would be returning for the third instalment within their franchise, with 'The Incredibles 3' officially set to return.
The first of the soon-to-be trilogy originally came out in 2004, the family then had to wait a further 14 years until they were allowed to re-enter the silver screen for only a second time.
It was also announced that American filmmaker and animator, Brad Bird, would be returning to the director's chair for the third movie, as he did so throughout the two instalments prior.
This reveal came courtesy of Pixar Chief Creative Officer, Pete Docter (responsible for films such as 'Inside Out', 'Up' and 'Soul'). Throughout the process of doing, Docter and the rest of Pixar HQ held their cards very close to their chest and refused to reveal and major details about the film, other than the official announcement of its inevitable release.
The third instalment to 'The Incredibles' storyline would not be marking the first three-film-plus franchise to come out of Pixar's roster in recent years. In 2010, 'Toy Story' became the first Pixar trilogy, and not long after 'Cars' joined the elite group with the cinematic release of 'Cars 3' in 2017.
It was announced by Docter that the pre-production for 'The Incredibles 3' is in the very early stages of development, so it could be a while before we see anything hit our cinema screens. But with the return of Craig T. Nelson as Mr Incredible and Holly Hunter as Elastagirl, it goes without saying that it will be well worth the wait.
