36 years after the original movie was brought to cinema screens all over the world, the industry titan that is Michael Keaton is due to return as one of the most iconic characters on his roster, Beetlejuice.
With a cinematic release date of September 6th, fans of the original will once again get to see some similar faces as well as some new character introductions in the sequel to the 1988 comedy/horror classic.
Of course we can expect to see Keaton return in the titular role of Beetlejuice, but Winona Ryder will also be reprising her role as Lydia Deetz, along with Catherine O'Hara as her respective role of Delia Deetz.
In regards to new faces we can expect to see in the sequel, Jenna Ortega will be reuniting with director Tim Burton following the critical success of Netflix's 'Wednesday' to portray Astrid Deetz, daughter of Lydia (Winona Ryder).
As well as Ortega, Monica Bellucci will be portraying the newly introduced role of Beetlejuice's Wife, Willem Dafoe will introduce the role of Wolf Jackson and Justin Theroux rounds off an exciting cast as Rory.
This film takes place a generation after the events of 'Beetlejuice', as the newly expanded Deetz family return home to Winter River after an unexpected family tragedy. Still haunted by the events that took place in the original film, Lydia's life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter (Ortega) revives Beetlejuice back from the afterlife.
One thing that is easy to infer from the contents of this trailer is the fact that it has the iconic and unique style and traits of Tim Burton written all over it. From the dark colour palettes to the quirky and witty characters, it seems as though Burton is refusing to steer away from his recognisable style of filmmaking for the sequel 36 years later.
Despite a trailer runtime of 140 seconds an impressive number of scenes/sequences displayed that refuses to let it's viewers take a breath, very little about the storyline of this movie is revealed to the audience.
Although we can come to the assumption that Beetlejuice is up to his old ways that we became used to in the 1988 original following his revival from the grave, the roles that the newly introduced characters such as Beetlejuice's Wife and Wolf Jackson remains a mystery.
