Barbie and Ken Visit "Real World" In New Trailer

As the 21st of July looms closer and closer as time goes on, more and more information about Greta Gerwig’s next feature “Barbie” begins to spill out of the mouths of Warner Brothers Studios.

We have known for quite some time that there would be a live action rendition of the iconic doll Barbie coming out in 2023. But we haven’t always known exactly what the films storyline will entail.

In the past we have received two teaser trailers which fails to give away any information at all as to the plot of the film and what kind of movie we can expect.

But with the official trailer release just last week, this now isn’t the case.

It seems that Barbie and Ken, along with all of the other Barbie and Kens scattered amongst the Barbie universe, or “Barbieverse”, are in a fictional place called Barbieland.

As we are eased into the trailer, everything seems to be going smoothly, and Barbieland looks as fun as you would expect it to. But it doesn’t take long before things begin to take a dark turn for Margot Robbie’s Barbie, who eventually hits us with the deep line: “Do you guys ever think about dying?”.

With this, Barbie and Ken begin their travels to the real world and leave their Barbieland lives behind in order to find out the truth of the world and everything that comes with it.

In my honest opinion – you should have stayed in Barbieland.

There are various factors throughout this trailer that accumulate into the audience not having a clue where to look. Everything is so vibrant and colourful that it essentially feels as though you are watching your entire childhood play out before your eyes.

The production and costume design look absolutely magnificent. The team behind capturing what people would envisage “Barbieland” to look like, did an excellent job of doing so.

Ryan Gosling also seems to be doing a brilliant job in the comedic role of Ken, proving once again that he does have magnificent range amongst the characters that he can portray.
