Austin Butler And Tom Holland To Star As Drug Smuggling Brothers In 'American Speed'

The latest news within the world of our much beloved film industry is that Marvel's very own Peter Parker and Feyd-Rautha from 'Dune: Part Two' (also known as Tom Holland and Austin Butler) are set to star alongside eachother in the upcoming racing drama 'American Speed' for Amazon MGA.

This announcement comes at fortunate timing for Tom Holland, having just unveiled a July 2026 release date for 'Spider-Man 4' whilst promoting his new non-alcoholic beverage 'Bero Brewing', as well as officially being cast as a co-lead for Christopher Nolan's next feature.

Whilst July 2026 will see Mr Holland with a relatively full schedule, with both of these films releasing within those 31 days, it remains unknown when we can expect to see English actor and Austin Butler alongside one another in 'American Speed', with a director yet to be announced.

Butler, himself, is also having quite the twelve months. Earlier this year we saw his spine-chilling portrayal of Feyd-Rautha in Denis Villeneuve's 'Dune: Part Two', before starring in Steven Spielberg's 'Masters Of The Air' for Apple TV+. We would then see him for a final time in 2024 all leathered up as he took on the role of Benny, the motorcyclist gangster in Jeff Nichols' 'The Bikeriders'.

Although a director is yet to be attached to the project, we do know that the screenplay is in the hands of Dan Wiedenhaupt (Alpha), and that it will be produced by Charles Roven (Oppenheimer). The film will show Holland and Butler star as two thirds of the infamous Whittington brothers, presumably Don and Bill.

The race car driving duo were caught up in the IMSA scandal in the 1980's, which saw a handful of prominent figures in the racing industry charged with funding their sporting endeavours using money gained from drug smuggling, laundering and tax evasion.

Despite there still being no official release date associated with the project, we won't have to wait long or have to look far to see the two actors on the silver screen in separate projects. As previously mentioned, Holland will become the man of the town come July 2026 when we are treated to both 'Spider-Man 4' as well as Christopher Nolan's untitled upcoming project.

Whereas we could potentially see Austin Butler on the big screen even sooner, with the Oscar nominee currently filming Darren Aronofsky's 'Caught Stealing' with Matt Smith, as well as Ari Aster's 'Eddington' a little further down the road.
