Over the years, Paul Thomas Anderson has slowly but surely claimed the title of one of the most talented filmmakers of today's generation.
In a world where the likes of Scorsese, Spielberg and Tarantino seem to be nearing the light at the end of the tunnel of their careers, it is filmmakers like PTA who are forced to pick up the pieces and keep movie lovers entertained for the foreseeable.
And although all we currently have is a 22-second long teaser trailer, it's safe to assume that PTA will be doing exactly this with his newest project: 'One Battle After Another'.
This film will see a unique collaboration between PTA and Hollywood's finest, Leonardo DiCaprio, take place for the first time ever. It's hard to envisage the idea of these two icons of the industry having never worked together, given their individual tremendous bodies of work, but nevertheless, it is true.
Despite not featuring in the 22-second long teaser, fans can and will expect to witness DiCaprio star alongside some fellow titans of the industry such as Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Wood Harris, and Benicio Del Toro.
Fans have become used to expecting greatness every time Paul Thomas Anderson graces us with a new project, from the late-90's with 'Boogie Nights' all the way to his 2021 hip comedy 'Licorice Pizza'. But, regardless of this, fans never truly know what they are getting themselves in for when purchasing a ticket to see one of his films.
Yes, the teaser may lead us to believe that this is an American drama about a Father with a troubled past, and how that has come to affect his daughter throughout her youth. But who's to say that the film isn't about a young couple who run around California in the 1970's and fall in love? (We know this isn't 'Licorice Pizza: Part Two').
Regardless of what we know now, given PTA's recent track record, fans have every right to get excited about what the filmmaker is bringing to us next. A first-time collaboration between Paul Thomas Anderson and Leonardo DiCaprio is a cinematic event in itself and simply can not go missed.
